If i play ut i have ping from 72 - 120 on resolution 800*600 but if i change now to 1024*768 i have about 52 - 72 ping. but it laggs like hell then. Next thing since some time i have some lag when i jump or something it "cuts" off for about 1 sec or a bit more :( and as u all know i have that mouse sensivity problems too lol
reinstall is the 1st try, for every problem, try it. and take a new mouse from somewhere lol :/ and that resolution - ping stuff is normal, i ve that too, and i think everyone else does. just play on the one u lag less and dont look at the 'ping' cos many have 20 ping and lag the **** of their asses, im talking about me, lino and some others lol.
If it's and LCD, you will get lag if you dont use it at it's optimal res, even my comp hates to run ut2k4 on a lower res, if i do, it laggs, and looks like ****.
also, the ping is directly related to your internet, not your res, so do you mean FPS,
if so, then all sorts will change that, for starters , tweak all your settings so nearly all are on low, or off, then build up till u get a good look, and smooth play.
if it's still laggy, then upgrade is the only answer.
as for your mouse, give us some more info, we might be able to help.

i disagree with ''also, the ping is directly related to your internet, not your res, so do you mean FPS,'' its maybe weird & stuff, but believe me mc, i had thesame crap. But i had a lower ping on lower resolutions i guess and not higer. And yes i mean ' ping' tho i dont look at it, cos it says absolutly nothing. I can play without lag with 80 ping, and lag with 20. Depends on the day :/ my connection is a bit of f* up ^^ so i ve these situations ^^
ok here are some backround infos of my pc, connection, screen and mouse :)
PC: Manufacturer: Packard Bell NEC Processor: Intel Pentium 4 (2,50 GHZ) Mainboard: dont know which it is but it has VIA chips on it Ram: 768MB HDD: 78 GB Graphics Card: Nvidia Geforce 6200 (256 MB, Newest updates on it) System: Windows XP service pack 2, Vistamized (with newest updates on it) DirectX: 9.0c i think (it was installed with COD4!)
Mouse: Speednet wireless mouse kit without any DPI writed on it) Screen: Samsung SyncMaster913N (windows resolution is 1280 x 1024) Ingame Resolution: 800x600 (almost all things on normal only one is on high i think world detail or somethin)
Internet connection: (This is the nürnberg server about 90 km away of me!)
(this is the frankfurt server about 150 km away of me!)
Really good news mates :) I found out what was wrong :D The stupid Nvidia driver had an little problem :( But i have reinstalled it and now everything is better than ever on this pc :) even the mouse problems are away and i can play on 1024*768 without any lag/problems
My result's are not as fast as some users, but are pretty good, the server i normally do the test from is down, but the london one is about 200 miles away but it's not a bad ping, It's normally about 25 to 35 ish.
i know what you mean about lag not being connected to the ping, as i generally have one of the best ping's around, but still suffer lagg on some server's.
It's mainly a server issue, combined with distance from the server.....
But I still don't think it's related to your resolution, as i play at 1680 x 1050, yes I have a good gpu to run it, but if it were related, i too would have more problems than most.
The gpu you have, is a 6200 nvidia, thi is sad news, as this was infact one of the worst 6000 series cards for gaming, yes it will run games, but it's not the greatest. It might be worth looking into trying to get an old 6600 GT, or even better, the 6800, which was an awesome card.
this will be cheap if you can find a reliable 2nd hand user, or a shop with very old stock.
Aslo, you have an odd anount of ram, which means your running a 512 with a 256, or 3 sticks of 256mb ram. you would see a big boost , if you take out the single 256, and add in another 512mb, giving you a gig, this would help speed things up no end.
As the minimum you want to use with an XP instalation is 512mb., also, as xp is getting older now, get service pack 3 installed, no nice graphics updates, but some better network control, and security, Worth the download, or email them, they will send you a disk free of charge.
these thing's I've metioned above will not cost allot, as all the stuff you would be getting is all old, and affordable now to even the lowest of budgets.
hope any of this might help, i know you have it fixed for now, but these would help you more in the long run.
